Andy Konwinski

Andy Konwinski is a co-founder of Laude Ventures, Laude Institute, Databricks, and Perplexity. He is a researcher, investor, and philanthropist focused on advancing frontier computer science research and helping its breakthroughs reach the real world. Through Laude Institute and his broader research funding, he supports ambitious work in artificial intelligence and computer science, while investing in researchers and technical founders building companies around new ideas. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, where he contributed to Apache Hadoop and co-created Apache Mesos and Apache Spark. He co-teaches the PhD seminar on “Research to Startups” at Berkeley.
